Rising Damp

rising-dampRising damp simply describes moisture that travels through porous materials such as bricks, plaster, render or mortar by capillary action.

Salts dissolved in this moisture, coupled with mould or mildew attracted by the damp, can create unsightly stains on internal and external walls, and the spores of mould and mildew can cause significant respiratory problems.  Damage can also occur to the fabric of the wall itself, resulting in cracking and structural damage to either the wall itself or to woodwork and furniture that is in contact with the damp area.

Rising damp is usually relatively easily solved and starts with a survey to determine the cause of the problems and a suitable solution. Call us on 01795 537795 or email info@cureofashford.com to find out more.
